LCHS Receives TN Appalachian Center for Higher Education Grant
This year LCHS was the recipient of a TnACHE (TN Appalachian Center for Higher Education) grant. The main purpose of this grant is to promote post-secondary education for high school students.
Through this grant, we have taken students on college visits to UAH and TTU, paid for health education students to attend a health symposium, held an ACT Prep Workshop, provided student incentives for attending the FAFSA Workshop and other important activities.
This enrolled LCHS in the National Student Clearinghouse, which will track our graduates to see how many of our students have gone on to college, military, technical schools, community colleges or to work.
As part of the effort in promoting post-secondary education to our students teachers wore their collegiate attire (t-shirts, ties, school colors, etc.) from where they attended college.
On Friday, May 3rd, teachers were asked to take 5 minutes during their classes and talk to their students about their college experiences and how valuable their education / training is to them.
This is all in an effort to get them thinking about life after high school and their futures.
